SAN BLAS PATEAU

This place is located between three impressive volcanoes, the Cerro Verde volcano that is a National Park, the active volcano of Santa Ana and slightly active Izalco’s volcano. The three volcanoes in such close proximity provide a fascinating lesson in volcanic development and aging. Rich vegetation and forest cover Cerro Verde, the oldest, while Izalco, the youngest, remains almost entirely composed of rough volcanic rock. Santa Ana lies in the middle, with both plant life and volcanic stone. Hiking the three volcanoes affords three very different and exhilarating experiences.
